Rivet nuts are used for attaching a nut onto sheet metal parts, such as panels, tubes and castings. Rivet nuts allow for easy attachment and detachment of components like blind rivets, rivet nuts do not require access to the back of the sheet metal.
These rivet nuts are available in a range of materials such as Aluminium, bright zinc plated steel, and stainless steel. The material of the rivet nut is an important factor for it's use in an assembly, as it can affect the joint strength and it's corrosion resistance. Rivet nuts have 3 common head types: flat head; countersunk; and reduced countersunk head. These types also offer two variations of body type, between a closed and open body.
