Red fibre washers are designed for sealing and spacing. When wet the fibre washer will swell a little, making them suitable for a variety of plumbing and automotive applications. Fibre washers will compress slightly more than rubber or nylon washers. This means that they are less likely to be damaged by over tightening and abrasion, and therefore tend to have a longer lifespan. Red fibre washer are corrosion resistant to sea water, oil, solvents and petroleum derivatives.
