Schnorr washers are a type of disc spring, which has a trapezoidal cross-section and serrations on both sides. When compressed, the serrations create helical gears, gripping the surface to the bolt and nut. The outer diameter of the washer is matched to head diameters of pan head and socket head cap screws.
