Metal Tapping Screws

The phrase Metal Tapping Screws may refer to either thread rolling screws or self drilling tek screws, both of which form the mating thread on installation. A seperate tapping operation is therefore not required.

Thread rolling screws incorporate an ISO metric machine type thread. The triangular shaped tip design allows the thread rolling screw to cold form the female thread. These items are manufactured to DIN 7500, a standard that covers several head and drive types.

Self drilling tek screws are designed to drill and tap their own fixing hole, again reducing the number of operations required to make the joint. There are a number of different variants available specific to the task at hand. The examples below are for metal to metal operations.
