DIN 562 - Square Nuts, Thin Type

This datasheet provides technical specifications, dimensions and tolerances for metric square nuts available from Westfield Fasteners, in accordance with DIN 562.

Product Description

DIN 562 square thin nuts are low-profile, four-sided nuts designed for applications where installation space is limited. Compared with standard DIN 557 square nuts, they have a reduced height, making them suitable for assemblies where a full-height nut cannot be accommodated.

Their square profile also allows them to be retained within suitably shaped recesses, helping to prevent rotation during assembly.

Scope of the DIN standard

DIN 562 specifies the dimensions and tolerances for metric square thin nuts in nominal thread sizes from M1.6 to M10.

Due to their reduced height and thread engagement, thin nuts generally have a lower load-carrying capacity than full-height nuts of the same nominal thread size. They should not be considered direct substitutes for full-height nuts in applications requiring equivalent proof-load performance. Material grades and property classes may vary according to the nominal thread size.
